Print, scan and copy

Anyone can print, scan and copy at the libraries. The copyprint service is called GUprint and functions differently for students, employees and library visitors that belongs to the general public.

Students can use the copyprint service GUprint to print, scan and copy at the libraries. The Student Portal provides instructions to help you get started with GUprint. There you will also find information about prices for printing and copying.

As an employee at the University of Gothenburg, you can use GUprint as you do at your department.

GUprint for the general public

If you don't have an affiliation with the University of Gothenburg, you need a value card or a print and copy card to be able to use the printers.

Value card

With a value card you can print all file formats from the library's computers, print by sending email to the printer and make copies.

How to get a value card:

  1. Apply for a library card if you do not already have one.
  2. Buy a value card at any of the libraries. Value cards are available in two values: SEK 20 and SEK 100.
  3. Charge your printing account with the code on the value card.

Print and copy card

If you don't want to have a library card but still need to use the printers, you can purchase a print and copy card. You can make copies with the print and copy card, but the printing options are limited.

Prints and copies will vary in price depending on whether you choose to print in black and white or color, single-sided or double-sided. Scanning is free.

How to use the printerns

Log in to the printer

To be able to print, scan and copy, you need to log in to the printer. If you are a student or employee, you log in with your GU card and pin code or with your GU account. If you belong to the general public, you log in with the number on your library card and your personal number.

Print

There are several ways to print using GUprint:

  • Print from Library computers. Select the printer named GUprint. If you are a student or staff you can also print from your own computer using a downloadable software. Default: A4, black and white, double-sided. You can change settings on the computer before printing.

  • Print by uploading your document on the GUprint website. Default: A4, double-sided. You can choose between colour and black and white, and specify the number of copies.

  • Print by sending your print job attachment to printme@gu.se. Default: A4, black and white, double-sided. The settings can not be changed.

  • Print from USB memory directly from the printer. Note that this only works for PDF and JPG files. Default: A4, black and white, single-sided. The settings can be changed on the printer.

Scan

Scan to USB memory and email address. Default: A4, auto color, single-sided. The settings can be changed on the printer.

Copy

Default: black and white, single-sided. The settings can be changed on the printer.

Check your account balance

You can view your account balance, transactions and job history by logging in to GUprint web. Students and employees at the University of Gothenburg log in with their GU-account. Members of the general public log in with their library card number and personal number.

Refunds

You can request a refund for failed print jobs within one week from the date of printing. The failed print or copy must be shown at the Library information desk or at the University's Service Center.
