This is the library’s old website, which has been replaced by ub.gu.se.
The website is used solely as reference material for the web and communications team and will be archived in the autumn of 2026.
Contact us if you would like to donate material. We have limited possibilities to accept donations and therefore reserve the right to make a selective choice.
The University Library has two different collections of manuscripts and archives: the Manuscript section's archives and the KvinnSam archives. Both receive documents of individuals but also archives of associations and organizations.
The Gothenburg University Library can to some extent recieve printed books, newspapers, magazines, notes, maps and small prints that are relevant to research and teaching at the University of Gothenburg.
We do not accept material that is already in the library's collections. Please check if the material is already in the library's collections in Supersearch and Katalog –57 before you contact us.
Please use the contact form to send a donation request. We do not accept materials over the counter in our libraries.
Specify the number of books or shelf meters, and the subject. If the donation is of interest, we will get back to you and ask for a list of titles.
In the case of sheet music, we reserve the right to donate it to students and other library users in cases where we choose not to keep the material.
A donation means that ownership passes entirely to the Gothenburg University Library, which stores and provides the material, and to the extent that resources allow, also sorts, describes and catalogs the material.
In a donation, the library reserves the right to subsequently remove those parts that the library does not wish to preserve for posterity. This applies in all cases except when a donation document is drawn up regulating the conditions of use of the material.
