The National Library of Sweden has large audiovisual collections. The collections consist mainly of material from 1979 and onwards. The holdings include Swedish records, television and radio programs broadcasted from Sweden, cinema film and video film distributed in Sweden. The collections also include recordings until 2010 from Göteborgs stadsteater, Backa teater och Folkteatern.
Use The Swedish Media Database (SMDB) to find material from the audiovisual collections. You request the material yourself. The National Library will then send a copy to the Humanities Library where you can listen to or watch the recording in the library's media studio.
You can book a media studio at the Humanities Library to use the audio- and video recordings from the University Library and the National Library. The room is equipped with a computer with a DVD player as well as a CD- and vinyl disc player.
If needed, a tape recorder, cassette deck and VHS player can be brought to the room. Please let us know in advance if you require such equipment.
